A furious dad has slammed clothing manufacturers for sexualising children after spotting a slogan on an outfit designed for newborn babies. Proud parent @world.shaker shared his shock upon seeing the item as part of a video raising his concerns about the "oversexualisation" of young girls.
In it, he blasted a shop for selling a onesie with a design that read: "Sorry, boys. Dad says no dating." The father also shared he has found "all the girl clothes are remarkably annoying for so many reasons," including problems with practicality and sizing. The popular TikToker, who prides himself on being a "licensed girl dad", shared his experience in a duet responding to one of @ericasaysstuff's viral videos.
In the creator's original clip, Erica asks: "Tell me about the time you realised that oversexualisation of women starts incredibly young."
The devoted dad replied: "It was 100 per cent the clothes. I knew it was going to be bad, but I didn't know how bad. And then we got a onesie for our daughter that said: 'Sorry, boys. Dad says no dating,' sized for a newborn.
"I guess I'm wondering who they thought is going to date our zero-month-old daughter. But all the girl clothes are remarkably annoying for so many reasons."
He continued: "Why does everything have ruffles? Why is everything hyper pink? Why is everything glittery. Why can't I just find a one-piece bathing suit for my daughter? Why are the girl clothes smaller than boy clothes when they're the same size?
"Like I don't get why boys get normal shorts and my daughter gets shorts with an inseam of negative two. Like we legit buy boy pants for our daughter because girl pants are sausage casing leggings.
"I'm not squeezing a baby back into sausage casing after ever single diaper change. So it was 100 per cent girl clothes. Girl clothes are the worst." In response, commenters were quick to agree with the dad.
One person wrote: "I’m due at the end of June and I saw that EXACT onesie with the 'sorry boys' message on it and I wanted to throw up. She’s a baby. I’m sick of it all."
A second agreed: "I didn't notice how bad it was until I bought my baby niece clothes."
But someone else thought: "98% ...The only thing I disagree with is that two piece bathing suits for girls make sense when it comes time to change the swim diaper or go potty."
Nonetheless, many praised the parent for highlighting the issue. One commenter added: "Thanks for saying this I waited for this too long."
