Dad's body tragically found next to River Thames two days after he went missing

The body of a dad has been found slumped next to the River Thames two days after he went missing.

Jarek Kowal, 42, was last spotted leaving his family home on Gardener Close, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, just before midday on Saturday.

He was wearing navy pyjama shorts, a Nike hoodie and Nike trainers.

His wife Agnieszka expected him back quickly as he had left his glasses at home, but he never returned.

A desperate search began and Aneta Kubera, a friend of Mr Kowal's wife, took to Facebook to plead with the public to help find Jarek.

She wrote: "Darlings! We are looking for a man visible in the photo. Lives in Aylesbury with family.

"For unknown reasons, he left the house on Saturday morning wearing navy blue pyjama shorts, a grey print shirt and a black hoodie visible on the photo. He left his glasses at home.

"I kindly ask on behalf of his wife to share the post and any information about Jarek if only you or your friends living in UK somewhere in the last few hours have met him. Children and wife are waiting at home."

Tragically, his body was found yesterday near the River Thames bordering Meadowcroft Park in Aylesbury.

Although formal identification is yet to take place, the man is believed to be Jarek.

On behalf of his devastated wife Agnieszka, friend Aneta wrote: "Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for sharing the post. The search has been completed.

"Since many of you helped share posts and help with the search, we thank you very much for all your help and support on behalf of your loved ones.

"At the same time, on behalf of Agnieszka, I kindly ask you not to ask questions and some time for her and for children."

A report was being prepared for the Buckinghamshire coroner Crispin Butler who was expected to formally open an inquest into his death.

Inspector Andy Pearce, based at Aylesbury police station, added: "Sadly, following searches carried out by officers, a man's body has been found.

"His next of kin have been informed and are being offered support. Thank everyone who shared our appeal to find Jarek."

The death is being treated as unexplained but is not believed to be suspicious.
