Dad's agonising tribute to two children among four alleged murder victims in Derbyshire house

The heartbroken father of two children found dead at a home in Derbyshire on Sunday has posted a devastating tribute to his "beautiful babies" on Facebook.

Jason Bennett, who is understood to be the father of two children who were found in the house, said he was "lost and broken" and described son John and daughter Lacey as "angels".

A murder investigation was launched on Sunday after the bodies of four people were found at a house in Chandos Crescent in Killamarsh, northeast Derbyshire.

One man has been arrested in connection with the incident. Derbyshire Police have confirmed they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths and have said it is an "isolated incident".

DerbyshireLive reports the devastated father shared tributes on Facebook on Sunday evening saying his heart had been broken "into a million pieces".

He wrote: "I need my babies back. Life will never be the same. My angels. Won't be long till I'm touching your cheeks, holding you close, and kissing your beautiful faces. Only you two can fix me."

In another post from Sunday night he wrote: "Absolutely heartbroken my heart into a million pieces. I didn't protect my beautiful babies enough and now they have been suddenly taken away from me.

"I'm writing this as I'm lost and broken on a four-hour drive back home having just received heartbreaking news that my beautiful boy John and beautiful daughter Lacey have been taken away from me.”

Oakwood Academy City has also issued a statement confirming three children were victims in the tragedy.

The Sheffield school shared on Twitter it will remain closed on Monday following the incident which "includes three of our students" but is open to pupils needing support.

DerbyshireLive understands that John and Lacey's mum Terri and a third child were the others who lost their lives at the property.

The news has left neighbours shell-shocked. One neighbour told DerbyshireLive he used to see children playing in the front garden.

"I’m shocked that the kids are gone," he said. “I’ve been here about a year and two months and it’s been quiet - nothing like this.

“I think people will be devastated to be honest with you.”

Derbyshire Police detective chief inspector Rob Routledge, who is leading the investigation team, said: "It is understandably a worrying time for the community, and we would like to thank them for their patience and understanding at this time. It was important to us that close relatives of those involved were informed before we could give further details about the incident."
