A man has recalled how he put his son on a roof to escape a encircling shark as their home was engulfed by rising flood waters from Hurricane Dorian.
Adrian Farrington, 38, watched on horror as his son AJ was swept away by a storm surge and disappeared beneath the murky waters near their home in Murphy Town, Abaco, Bahamas.
AJ has not been seen since, despite a Facebook appeal to help track him down.
Dozens of people are still missing after the island was devastated the Category 5 hurricane which battered the Caribbean island with violent winds.
His devastated dad has recounted his desperate attempts to save him an interview with a local newspaper.



"I still could remember him reaching for me and calling, 'Daddy'", he said.
Farrington, who broke his leg during the ordeal, went to the spot where he saw his son go underwater and dived down to rescue him.
"I ain't find nothing. I come back up. I hold my breath and I gone back down again," he told the Nassau Guardian.



The incident was one of many harrowing stories emerging on Thursday as residents searched for loved ones and widespread looting was reported on the islands, where the United Nations estimates 70,000 people are in immediate need of food, water and shelter.
At least 30 people have died after the Bahamas was battered by high-strength winds from the storm, but the death toll is expected to increase significantly in the coming days.
