Dad-of-two dies after being struck by Brit who plunged from Spanish hotel

The Spaniard killed by a British tourist who landed on him after a seventh-floor balcony plunge has been named as dad-of-two Antonio Gonzalez.

Mr Gonzalez, 43, was having a drink with friends on the terrace of a five-star hotel in Marbella when the 49-year-old Brit hit him.

Both men died instantly.

The tragedy occurred at the Melia Don Pepe Hotel, just before 2am Saturday.

The Brit, named locally as Anthony Holmes, 49, was staying at the hotel.

Police are investigating and have not said if they believe it was an accident.

Gym owner Antonio is thought to have been next to his wife when the man landed on him and they had just been singing Happy Birthday to a pal.

An acquaintance said: “He was a lovely bloke.”
