Dad of tragic boxer Connor Law teams up with son's pals to run charity race

The father of a tragic boxer who died suddenly teamed up with his son’s mates to run a race for a mental health charity.

Gary Law ran the Edinburgh Half Marathon on Sunday with 11 of his son Connor’s friends and is hoping to raise £10,000 for “Health in Mind”

The group - called Team Law - ran in white t-shirts spelling Connor’s name and decorated with boxing gloves.

Tributes flooded in for the 26-year-old, from Kelty in Fife, who died in July.

The sad news was revealed on Glenrothes Boxing Club's Facebook page which said: "Connor was one of the most talented up and coming boxers with a bright future ahead of him.

"He was nothing short of a true gentleman both inside and outside of the ring.”

Super middleweight Connor had been a top amateur before turning pro.  He was unbeaten in 13 professional outings, but had not fought in a year.

In one of his final Twitter posts appealing for sparring partners he talked of having a "tough time".

The ‘Team Law’ fundraising page said: “Connor was always the brightest smile in any room and he will be the brightest star in the sky forever more.

“His passing has broken the hearts of all that ever had the pleasure of knowing him and he will be missed dearly.”

And it added: “This ones for you champ, rest in peace, love you forever. X

"I fought the law and the law won.”
