A heartbroken family today paid an emotional tribute as police named a Liverpool dad-of-three who died when his beloved motorbike hit a tree.
Police were called around 2pm on Sunday to a report of an accident on the A59 in Whalley.
A man riding a Kawasaki motorbike had been travelling from Clitheroe towards Langho in East Lancashire with another rider when he came off the carriageway and crashed into a tree.
Today police confirmed the man was Richard Walters, 56, from Norris Green.
He suffered serious injuries and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene, reports Lancashire Live.
His devastated family issued a poignant tribute to Richard who "loved going out riding on his motorbike" and "died doing what he loved."
The statement issued via Lancashire Police states: "Richard Michael Walters was a loving partner to Jan and father to his three children.
"He was a caring brother to his three siblings. He will be missed not only by his family, but by his many friends and work colleagues."
It signs off with: "Rest in peace Ricky."
Police said the other motorbike rider was not injured and the road was closed for five hours while accident investigators attended the scene.
Sgt Laura Kendall, of Lancashire Police’s Tactical Operations, is appealing for any witnesses or motorists with dashcam footage to help with their appeal.
She said: “These are very sad and tragic circumstances and my thoughts are with the rider and his family at this time.
“We are appealing to anyone who saw the collision, or may have dashcam footage showing what happened, to come forward.
“If you can assist our enquiries please call 101 quoting log 0826 of June 6.”
