Dad of The Voice Kids semi-finalist David Adderley says watching son on the big stage has been an emotional rollercoaster

The dad of a Voice Kids semi-finalist said it has been an emotional rollercoaster watching his son shine on the big stage.

Dubliners David Adderley and Ammani Bengo will fight for a spot in the The Voice UK finals tonight.

Speaking to Irish Daily Mirror David’s dad Jason said: “It’s surreal of course, for any parent. The boys have been playing together since they were eight and they’ve been practicing away so just to see their progress and on such a big stage is unreal.

“And it is such a good opportunity and a great show and a great platform and it’s fantastic. Obviously for myself and David’s mam, and Amani’s mam and dad it is emotional.

“You see them up there, they are exposed and vulnerable and they are so good at what they do. It’s fantastic.”

The 14-year-olds made coaches Will.I.Am, Pixie Lott, Danny Jones and Jessie J turn their chairs with their unique take on the Black Eyed Peas’ hit Let’s Get It Started.

David, who is set to head into his Junior Certificate in September said: “We didn’t think we would get this far.

“The dream was to show our music on such a big stage and in front of really cool musicians and people who know what they are talking about.”

  • The Voice Kids Virgin is on Virgin Media One at 8pm.
