Dad of Scot missing for seven years 'prays' McCanns get answers after Maddie suspect emerges

The devastated dad of a young Scot missing for nearly seven years has said he 'prays' the family of Madeleine McCann finds closure as he continues his battle for answers.

Allan Bryant has been trying to find out what happened to his son, also called Allan, after he went missing after a night out in Glenrothes, Fife in November, 2013.

This week, there have been dramatic revelations about the long-standing Madeleine McCann case.

Maddie vanished from her family's holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in 2007 aged just three.

German police are treating her disappearance as a murder investigation and sex offender Christian Brueckner has been named as the suspect.

Allan snr said that while the amount of cash spent on the investigation dwarfed that of most missing person probes he hoped the latest revelations would bring the McCanns peace.

He told the Record: "I do pray that the McCanns do find the answers they are looking for.

"To get any idea of what happened to Madeleine would be amazing for their family and I do really hope they find what they need."

The Bryant family have endured what Allan Snr previously called a 'living hell' after the shocking disappearance of young Allan.

Allan, 23, was last seen leaving the Styx nightclub in his hometown of Glenrothes in the early hours of November 3, 2013 - the club is only 10 minutes from the family home.

Despite one of the biggest missing person searches ever undertaken by police in Scotland, and a tireless campaign led by his family and their supporters, no trace has ever been found of him.

Allan senior believes mistakes were made in the crucial early part of the investigation and claims CCTV was not fully collected.

A petition to justice secretary Humza Yousaf and Police Scotland calling for the investigation to be transferred to another division has now gathered nearly 12,000 signatures.

Allan snr also wants an apology from police and a reward put up for information on what might have happened to his son.

He added: "For all we know Allan could have been seen on one of these cameras and now it is too late to check.

"We are just desperate to find out what has happened to him, he can't have just disappeared into thin air.

"My son deserves justice and we won't stop fighting for it."

Despite all the setbacks, the Bryants are grateful to their army of supporters.

Allan snr added:  "These are sometimes people we don't even know who have been helping us for years.

""I really can't thank all the people who have helped and supported us enough."

Detective Chief Inspector Kevin Houliston, MIT East, said: "The investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding Allan Bryant’s disappearance in November, 2013 is ongoing.

"Any new information officers receive will be fully investigated. "I would again urge anyone with any details about Allan’s movements after he left Styx nightclub on Caskieberran Road in Glenrothes on Sunday, 3 November, 2013, to contact Police Scotland via 101 or email OperationToner@scotland.pnn.police.uk.

"Alternatively, the charity Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained."
