A dad-of-nine has died after an industrial accident during a set-up day at Brands Hatch.
Carl Madgwick died in an incident at the world famous circuit near Sevenoaks in Kent, on Thursday, Kent Live reports.
The full circumstances of the incident are unclear but an investigation has been opened by the Health and Safety Executive and Kent Police.
Kent Police confirmed a man in his 40s was declared dead at the scene and reported no suspicious circumstances.
A gofundme page set up to help the family pay for his funeral says: "Carl was tragically taken away from his wife and 9 children and a grandchild very unexpectedly on the 1st July.
"This is still a massive shock to the whole family and friends.
"To help elevate the stress on Sam to pay for the funereal I’m setting this page up for anyone who knew Carl to contribute towards costs.
"Any donations received would help massively at this very sad time. Understandingly this is a very heartbreaking time.
"Carl and Sam have been together a lifetime so just helping to take a little strain off the family at this time would mean the world to them. Thank for helping.(sic)."
No members of the public were present during the set up day.
A spokesman for Kent Police told The Mirror: "Kent Police was called at 1.28pm on Thursday 1 July to a report of an industrial accident at Brands Hatch.
"Officers attended alongside South East Coast Ambulance Service and a man in his 40s was declared deceased at the scene.
"There are no suspicious circumstances and a report is being prepared for the coroner and the Health and Safety Executive."
Brands Hatch, which dates back to 1926, describes itself as "the UK's best loved race circuit" on its website.
"The Kent circuit is visited by a huge variety of championships, including the European DTM series for the world's fastest touring cars and the sublime supercar racing of GT World Challenge Europe," it says.
Brands Hatch declined to comment on the incident when contacted by The Mirror.
