Dad of missing Allan Bryant says teen sister 'cries every day' as family struggle to battle back from human remains find

A devastated dad has opened up on the pain of being told a body found in Fife is not that of his missing son.

The desperate family of Allan Bryant Jnr had hoped the grim discovery last month on a Glenrothes industrial estate might finally given them answers to his disappearance.

But distraught dad Allan Snr told how the agonising quest goes on after cops confirmed the remains are not his son who vanished seven years ago next month.

Allan Snr posted on Facebook: “For my family to go through this for a second time has really taken a massive toll - we really thought this time we would get closure and get our son Allan back.

Allan Jnr was last seen on CCTV shortly after 2am on November 3, 2013 as he left Styx Nightclub in Glenrothes (PA)

“I said it was going to be tough to bounce back from this and right now it's impossible to do so.

“We normally have a good few days then some bad days - I can't find the right words to try and explain the impact this has had on my family.”

Allan Jnr, then 23, went missing on November 3, 2013, after leaving the Styx nightclub in Glenrothes shortly after 2am - with no sightings since.

His dad added, of the September 27 find: “My family have not recovered or come to terms with everything since these human remains were discovered.

“We are broken. No good days now just constant sadness and heartache.”

Allan Snr told how the heartache of still having no answers has hit the whole family hard.

He added: “Allan's mum Marie has been crying most days and is really struggling with everything. She's not going out much, my heart is in bits watching her go through this.”

Allan Jnr’s little sister, Sophie, turns 16 soon and faces the “unthinkable” prospect of celebrating without her big brother.

Allan Snr added: “Our daughter Sophie has been really struggling too and as a dad I’m finding it really hard to keep strong. We are all emotionally drained and dread each day as it comes now.

“I also can't explain how all this has affected our mental health. Living like this every day would take its toll on anyone.

“We have one thing to look forward to this month which is our daughter Sophie’s 16th birthday.

“Sophie was only eight when her brother Allan went missing - it's just unthinkable for our daughter.”

And Allan Snr told of the toll of keeping his son's disappearance in the public eye in the hope for answers.

He added: “Everything is just so difficult now. We are simply not coping. What do we do next? Where are we going to find the strength to do so when we are all struggling like this?”
