Dad of missing Allan Bryant 'hopes' body belongs to son after seven years of heartache

A devastated dad of missing Glenrothes man Allan Bryant has spoken of his hope that human remains found in the town this weekend might finally give his family "closure".

Allan was last seen leaving a nightclub in the Fife town in November 2013, and his family have kept up a desperate search to find the then 23-year-old for seven years.

But after unidentified human remains were found minutes from where their son was last seen, dad Allan Bryant Snr has said the family 'hope it's him'.

The Daily Record reported Allan Snr had said senior cops would be keeping the family updated after they launched a probe to identify the human remains.

He said: "We are meeting with the major investigation team where we are hoping to find out exactly what has happened.

"We haven't slept all night.

"We have been through this before around two years ago when someone else was found in the park.

"We are hoping it will be Allan, it would be some sort of closure and help us get on with our lives.

"But just now we don't know what is happening."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said on Monday: "Around 5.20pm on Sunday 27 September 2020, police were called after unidentified human remains were found at an industrial estate on Whitehill Road in Glenrothes.

"Inquiries are at an early stage."

Mum Marie had spoken previously about the "daily nightmare" her family had experienced since the night her son went missing.

Ever since, both Marie and Allan Snr have kept up a public campaign to trace Allan Jnr, with regular public appeals on TV, in the press and on social media.

"I would plead with anyone who knows anything to please come forward, we are living a nightmare every day.

"Someone out there must know something and I would say to them to please think of us," Marie said previously.
