Dad of Love Island twins responds to daughters' critics on Twitter

The latest series of Love Island is underway and the show is already causing its usual stir on social media - but one thing which is unusual is that the father of not one but two contestants has taken to Twitter to defend his children against trolls.

Brian Gale, dad to new contestants, twins Eve and Jess, has stuck up for his daughters amid social media criticism after they entered the villa on Sunday night in an unexpected twist.

In their first episode the girls had to choose which boys they wanted to couple up with - which led to tensions rising when they realised they both fancied the same guy, report Cambridgeshire Live.

As Eve revealed to her sister she wanted to couple up with Callum, Jess said: “I can’t believe you made that decision. How come you made that decision?”

Eve says: “I don’t know, that’s just the way I feel.”

Jess replies: “Eve, can I just please explain?”

Eve responds: “We’re not arguing over a guy Jess, this isn’t happening.”

Jess adds: “You’re annoying me so much.”

Eve says: “Honestly Jess, sometimes you baffle me.”

Their argument soon got Twitter chatting.

Singer and TV personality Jake Quickenden tweeted to his 500,000 followers: "The twins: 'we never argue over a man'. The twins 10mins in: 'you're doing my f**king head in I like that one' #loveisland".

The tweet had thousands of likes and lots of replies - one of which was from Jess and Eve's dad.

Brian Gale responded: "I have seen them have a bigger disagreement over a t-shirt".

Love Island will return to screens tonight at 9pm on ITV2
