Dad-of-four killed in Leeds charity motorbike ride on A1 in Bramham named by police

A 57-year-old married dad-of-four who tragically died after crashing on a charity motorbike ride to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance has been named by police.

Robert Baron, from Richmond, North Yorkshire, died in hospital yesterday (Mon) after being involved in a serious crash on West Woods Road, Bramham, at 11.25am on Sunday.

The smash happened when Mr Baron's Suzuki motorbike collided with a Honda motorcycle which was travelling in the opposite direction.

The two bikes then crashed into a Bentley car travelling in front of the Honda.

Mr Baron, known as Bob, was rushed to hospital with serious injuries. He sadly passed away yesterday.

The rider of the Honda, a man in his 60s, was also taken to hospital for treatment to serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.

The crash happened during the Yorkshire Ride of Thanks, a fundraising event set up to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and other NHS and charity heroes of the pandemic.

The crash took place on the A1 (YappApp)

Mr Baron was a husband and dad to four children.

Police in Leeds are now appealing for witnesses to the crash to come forward.
