Dad-of-four killed following Mulhuddart collision named locally as Jonathan Egan

The man who was killed following a collision in Mulhuddart on Wednesday night has been named locally as Jonathan Egan.

The dad-of-four from Tyrrellstown tragically died after the motorcyclist he was driving collided with a car on the Old Navan Road.

The road between Coolmine Cottages and Saddlers Estate was closed at 7:30pm as emergency services attended the scene.

Jonathan was taken to Connolly Hospital but sadly passed away a short time later.

A post mortem is due to take place.

The much-loved Dad's funeral service will take this Saturday in the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Huntstown.

It will then be followed by a cremation ceremony in Glasnevin.

A post on RIP.ie read: "EGAN (Tyrrellstown, Dublin and formerly of Briarwood, Huntsown, Dublin) September 4th, 2019 (suddenly). Jonathan, beloved partner of Roisin, a devoted father of Cian, Katie, Jake and Calum, cherished son of John and Kay and dear brother of Keith.

"Sadly missed by his loving family, Keith’s son Luke, the Kenny family, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

"Rest in Peace

"Reposing at Cunningham’s Funeral Home, Clonsilla Village on (Friday) evening from 5.00 o’c to 8.00 o’c.

"Removal to the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Huntstown on (Saturday) morning arriving for Requiem Mass at 10.00 o’c followed to cremation in Glasnevin Crematorium. Family flowers only, please."

Gardai are appealing for witnesses who were in the area at the time especially a pedal cyclist who was also at the scene and witnessed the collision.
