Dad of Alfie Evans proudly shows off adorable new baby son at Goodison Park

The dad of Alfie Evans was pictured looking proud as ever with his adorable new baby son at Goodison Park this weekend.

Tom Evans and his partner Kate James made headlines last year in their heartbreaking legal battle to keep their disabled son Alfie alive.

Sadly the 23-month-old died at Alder Hey Children's Hospital in April last year after suffering a rare degenerative brain disease.

However the couple vowed they would not be broken, and four months after their son's death they welcomed a baby boy named Thomas.

And this weekend dad Tom looked over the moon to show off the youngster, ahead of Everton's Premier League match against Arsenal.

Kitted out in the famous EFC strip and a cute blue hat with little pom-poms, gorgeous, tiny Thomas smiled warmly in his dad's arms.

The 39,400 fans - including most of the Arsenal faithful - applauded and cheered as Tom paraded pitchside before kick-off, the Mirror reports .

And the family's beloved side triumphed 1-0 after Phil Jagielka's early goal.

Speaking to the Sunday Mirror in February , elated Tom said: "Thomas is Alfie’s double, the resemblance is amazing.

"When we see Thomas pull a face he looks like Alfie, we feel that in a way we have them both with us.

"He’s such a happy baby, he does nothing but smile. I had a great connection with Alfie and I feel like I’ve got the same with Thomas.

"We’re hanging in there, keeping sane, doing as well as we can. I wouldn’t know where I was without baby Thomas.

"I’ve got something to wake up to with him. I have to keep happy for Thomas’s sake. I wouldn’t want to wake up if it wasn’t for the baby.

"I don’t like to think what it would be like without Thomas. I worry if he wasn’t here, where would I be?

"How would I be? What would my mental health be?"

When Kate fell pregnant doctors told the couple they had a 1 in 4 chance of more of their children getting the same condition Alfie had.

Alfie was not formally diagnosed while he was alive, but Kate revealed she'd been told by midwives that they'd found two faulty genes - one from each parent.

Alfie's story touched the hearts of Scousers and hit headlines around the world with him later being dubbed 'the boy who brought the world together'.

Well wishers and supporters also raised £140,000 for Alfie which his parents said they will spend on helping sick children.

Tom, from Bootle, told the Sunday Mirror: "Kate is a great mum for Thomas.

"She has moments when she’s upset and she has a cry. That’s what you have to do to release the emotion. Mums have that bond, especially with the first child.

"We both loved Alfie and both wanted the best for Alfie."
