Dad of 13-year-old who went missing from West Allotment thanks everyone who helped find him

The dad of a 13-year-old boy who went missing from his North Tyneside home for 39 hours has thanked everyone for their efforts to help find him.

Charlie Burrows left his house in West Allotment in the early hours of Wednesday morning, prompting a desperate search by his family.

Dad Matt Burrows and stepmum Claire Hunter set up a Facebook group to help spread the word, printed posters and went door to door asking neighbours if they had seen the teenager.

He was located at around 12.30pm on Thursday and has been returned to his family, safe and well.

Now his dad has issued a heartfelt message of thanks to everyone who joined in the search, by sharing the online appeal, putting up posters or offering to help search the area.

Matt said: “The response we’ve had from everybody is amazing.

“I think the Facebook post has been shared something like 12,000 times.

“The community has come together and it’s great to see the support we’ve got from complete strangers.

“It’s touched my heart, it’s touched my partner’s heart, so thank you to everyone who came together.

“Now we’re just happy he’s come home and he’s safe. His ears are going to get a little bit sore but he’s safe.”
