Dad left disgusted after being served 'mouldy beans' from his local KFC

A father has shared repulsive photos of a pot of "mouldy beans" he received from KFC after ordering a takeaway meal for his family.

The family, who live in Hartlepool, ordered the £35 meal from the fast-food chain using Just Eat on Sunday (March 7).

But when the meal arrived from the Marina Way branch, they were left less than pleased.

Photos posted online by the family show black mould inside the pot of baked beans, as well as mould growing on the lid.

The shocking quality of the food was a surprise to the family, as the label on the pot said the beans were still within their use-by date, Teesside Live reports.

The 26-year-old dad, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "It was just the one pot of beans that were mouldy.

"Everything else looked alright but I didn't know about the standards of the kitchen in there.

"I'll never eat there again in my life."

The family's £35 meal contained a party bucket, which included corn on the cobs, regular fries, large beans and a bottle of pepsi.

After spotting the mouldy beans the dad rang the KFC branch to complain about the food, but because it had been delivered he was unable to return it.

The manager of the branch delivered a "substantial amount" of vouchers to his home on Monday, including free Party Bucket, Krushems, Box Meals and cookies.

He said: "It's honestly not even about the money it's more the fact I only order beans for the kids and would dread to think it was only a little bit and I missed it."

KFC said it was an "isolated incident" and issued the family with a free refund along with the free meal.

A KFC spokesperson said: “Uh oh – something’s BEAN going on here, and this definitely doesn’t look up to our usual high standards.

"We’ve checked in with the experts at the EHO who have confirmed that our processes are all in order.

"That being said, although this was an isolated incident we never want to leave our guests disappointed so we’ve been in touch to offer them a full refund and a meal on us – the least we could do!”
