His family said: “We are all devastated by the news, no words can describe how much we will miss him. We love you Dave.”

A JustGiving page explains that Dave leaves his wife Alana and two daughters.

It adds that the married couple had a mortgage accepted on their home just before the horrific crash and that he was shopping with this mum at the time.

Peter Kwok wrote on the page: “Dave McArthur our friend, husband to Alana and dad to two beautiful daughters from Kirkcaldy was killed.

“They just got a mortgage accepted for a new home before tragedy struck on Thursday.

“He served his country in his army life and in civilian life served the community by helping people with addictions.

“A special and lovely man. RIP our good friend.”

More than £3,000 has been raised by Dave’s friends and family since the JustGiving page was put online on over the weekend.

Social media tributes have poured in since the news of his passing.

Debbie Dallal said: “Thank you all so much. We are all heartbroken but your generosity and lovely messages means so much.”
