Dad hit by car 'has left a big hole' in lives of his two sons

The family of a dad-of-two who was killed after being hit by a car last night said the tragedy has "left a big hole in our lives."

Paul Scott died following the incident on Lisburn Lane, Tuebrook, on Tuesday evening.

The 51-year-old, from Huyton, was rushed to hospital with severe injuries but died a short time later.

He was a pedestrian and was struck by a car, with Merseyside Police confirming enquiries are ongoing and officers had spoken to the driver who was assisting officers.

Paul's loved ones shared a heartfelt tribute to him, describing him as a family man who loved to cycle and go for long walks.

In a statement, they said: "We are the brokenhearted family of Paul Scott from Huyton, and previously Whiston and Breck Road.

“He has left a big hole in the lives of his sons Michael and Sean, ex-partner Sue, granddaughters Sophia and Dolcie, his mother Cathy, brothers Les and John and sister Lynn.

“Paul loved to cycle and go for long walks and shared these pleasures with his family.

"We would appreciate it if the family could be left to grieve at this time.”

A cordon and large police presence had left the scene today as officers continue to appeal for anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage of the crash to contact them.

Anyone who was in the area and witnessed the accident is also urged to speak to investigators.

In a statement, Merseyside Police said: "We’re appealing for information following a fatal road traffic collision in Tuebrook on Tuesday, 1 December.

"Shortly before 7pm, officers were called to Lisburn Lane following reports of a collision involving a Ford Fiesta and a pedestrian.

"Emergency services attended and the pedestrian, a man in his 50s, was taken to hospital where he was sadly pronounced dead a short time later.

"The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is assisting with enquiries."
