Dad has 'no regrets' after getting Tesco Clubcard tattooed on his arm

A dad said he has "no regrets" after getting his Tesco Clubcard tattooed onto his arm because he kept forgetting to take it with him to the supermarket.

Dean Mayhew, 31, said his QR code tattoo, which he got last July, works perfectly under the scanner at the till. He said he uses it regularly, and has sent photos of it to friends so they can use it too.

Dean said he hopes by the end of the year he'll have saved up enough to cover the costs of his family's Christmas food shop to ease the pinch at an expensive time of year.

Dean, a scaffolder from Devon, said: "I still use it all the time. I love the tattoo so much. Sometimes when I go in there, the cashier doesn't believe it's real. I have to tell them 'just scan it please!' and they're shocked.

"Everything's going up in price so I'm always making sure I get it scanned now. With the points, I'm going to save them up and save towards the cost of Christmas."

Dean got the tattoo on July 16 last year from artist Dan Rossetter, 39, at A Star Tattoo in Chessington, Surrey. He said he had been considering it for months and headed straight to the nearest Tesco Express to try it out.

Dean said he has to keep his arm hair trimmed to ensure it doesn't block the bar code. He added: "Sometimes for presents, in the toy section things will be half the price when you get a Clubcard discount.

"I've also done in the past where I've gone to Tesco and done a big shop, and the points I saved up would take it down by half. It will help out a lot, especially this year, with everything going up in price.

"I definitely don't regret getting the tattoo."

Now he's considering getting a tattoo of his Nectar card for when he shops at Sainsbury's. He added: "I could use the one on my phone but I want to use the one on my arm as it’s funny."
