Dad 'gobsmacked' as kind stranger saves him from McDonald's parking ticket

A dad was left "gobsmacked" after finding a kind stranger had saved him from a parking ticket while he bought his kids a meal in McDonald's

Carl Wockenforth, 39, from Kirkby , was taking his sons to football training on Saturday morning when he decided to stop off at the McDonald's on County Road.

But Carl had mistakenly parked in the Hall Lane car park, operated by Knowsley Council , instead of the McDonald's customer car park and had not paid for a ticket.

He said: "As I was walking back to the car park, I saw traffic wardens crowding around my car. "

But when he checked his windscreen, expecting to find a parking fine, he discovered that someone had bought a parking ticket for his car.

He said: "When I got back to my car I saw a ticket on my wipers.

"I was confused. I thought it was a fine at first but then I realised that someone had actually bought me a ticket."

The dad of two said he was "gobsmacked" and "taken aback" by the act of kindness.

Carl wants to find the kind passer-by to thank them for their quick thinking.

He said: "I'd like to say thanks to them. I know it was only a pound but they saved me a £30 fine.

"If it wasn't for them it would have been a very expensive trip to maccies."

Carl took to Facebook to thank the mysterious Good Samaritan, saying: "I'm speechless. Scousers are the best. Whoever bought me this, thank you so much. I owe you a drink.

He said: "One of my mates told me to share the story on Facebook. It blew up.

"It's nice to know that there are genuine and nice people out there who go above and beyond to help out other people."
