Dad gets the shock of his life after ordering dinosaur statue for his son

When you shop online, there's always a risk that you won't get quite what you were expecting.

However, what you probably don't expect to turn up at your door is a giant six-metre-long dinosaur, right?

Unfortunately for Andre Bisson, a dad from Guernsey, that's exactly what happened after his four-year-old son Theo asked for "the biggest Carnotaur you've ever seen".

According to the Mirror, Andre bought the statue online for £1,000 and thought he would be getting a three-metre-long dinosaur. When it arrived, it turned out to be nearly twice the size.

Andre found the online listing after his partner mentioned an amusement park in Jersey, Tamba Park, was selling its old stock of dinosaur statues.

Speaking to The Sun online, he said: "The issue was as this was being sold off online, there was only a thumbnail image to try and gauge the size, no details whatsoever and no one to ask, I didn’t care really!

"I knew he would be big, I estimated 3m long x 1.5m max… as it turns out, he was much bigger at 5m long x 2.3m high."

Andre says he didn't realise how big it was until the delivery company told him it would not fit in a lorry.

The task of delivering the dinosaur was made even more difficult by heavy rain in Jersey.

It meant the Carnotaur's skin got wet, causing the statue to balloon in weight up to two tons.

Tamba Park even sent the family a smaller dinosaur to apologise for the delay.

Carnotaurs are Theo's favourite species and the four-year-old first asked for a dinosaur after watching the Disney film Dinosaur.

Andre had bought the dinosaur, now named Chaz, as a Christmas present for his son. But it could not be delivered in time because of its size.
