Dad found dead in suspected murder 'loved his son to bits', says heartbroken friend

Tributes have been paid to a 30-year-old dad who was said to have "loved his son to bits".

Shane O'Rourke, from Ammanford , was found dead on Saturday, November 2, at an address in Wind Street in the town.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of assault on Saturday, one of whom has been released with no further action while the other - a 51-year-old man - remains in police custody where he was further arrested on suspicion of murder.

Guerin's Barbers in Ammanford has led tributes to Mr O'Rourke, and is encouraging the community to "pull together" in the hope of raising funds for his family.

Owner, Mathew Guerin, said Mr O'Rourke was "very respected" and that "everyone knew him".

The 32-year-old said: "He was very respected, very polite, very sociable and outgoing.

"Everyone knew him. He mixed with everyone and had lots of friends.

"He was a regular in the local pubs and loved his boxing. He did some boxing when he was younger too.

"He was well known for loving Tottenham Hotspur, everyone knew how much of a fan he was.

"I think his family are from London originally but he lived in Ammanford for most of his life, with his partner Eve and his son Patrick.

"He was a family man and was very committed. He was always close to his family and he loved his son to bits."

His family have described Mr O'Rourke as being "loved by so many".

Mr Guerin, who is friends with Mr O'Rourke's brother Kieron, has set up a fundraising page to raise funds to support the 30-year-old's family, who have been "left devastated" at their loss.

"I've known his brother Kieron and the family for about 15 or 20 years," added Mr Guerin.

"Shane was a regular customer in our shop and he always supported our business as he lived in the same street as us.

"He would bring in his son for his haircuts.

"It would be nice for the town to pull together as we are heartbroken as a community and would like to send his family our love and support at this very difficult time."
