A man was found dead at a caravan park the day before his 33rd birthday.
Anthony James Ventre of Dee Close, Kirkby, was discovered by his dad at Robin Hood Holiday Park on Coast Road in Rhyl, North Wales on October 1.
The 32-year-old joiner had been staying at the Denbighshire caravan site when he "committed an act of apparent self-harm", an inquest was told.
An inquest into his death was held at Ruthin County Hall on Monday, October 12.
Coroner John Gittins said Mr Ventre had sent his girlfriend "concerning messages" at 8am on the day he died, North Wales Live reports.
Mr Ventre's dad attended his caravan to find his son's body.
He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
A post-mortem examination was carried out and a provisional cause of death was given as hanging.
The matter was adjourned to a full hearing on a date yet to be fixed.

Paying tribute to Mr Ventre on his birthday, one family member wrote: "Happy Birthday mate.
"I’m gutted you’ve left us this way.
"You’ve left a massive hole in our family & you will be missed.
"You were the biggest pain in my backside but now I’d have it no other way.
"Rest in peace."
A fundraising page has been sent up for Mr Ventre through the mental health charity Mind.

A message on the page reads: "Everyone who met Anthony will have a story to tell. He was a fun, loving character who made everyone laugh."
A funeral will be held on Friday, October 16.
