Dad fighting for his life after being stabbed putting daughter, 2, into car

A dad is fighting for his life in hospital after being stabbed in an 'unprovoked' attack in front of his two-year-old daughter in the street.

The 31-year-old man was knifed as he was putting the toddler into his car today in Brackley, Manchester.

Greater Manchester Police have launched a manhunt and released a photo of a man they want to speak to.

The stabbing happened within hours of Beswick stabbing: Murder probe after man, in his 20s, dies from multiple wounds , just five miles away. A young man died from multiple wounds.

The image of the man in Brackley, seen in a hooded top, is part of a large investigation, Manchester Evening News says.

Detective Inspector Mark Davis said: "I know this incident has understandably caused some concern locally but I want to assure the public that we have a team of detectives working to find the person responsible.

"If you recognise the man pictured in the images that we have released or even if you think you have some information that you think can assist us, no matter how big or small that may be, then please get in touch."

Forensic teams have been pictured at the suburban area today. A forensic tent was partially placed over a white Ford. A blue Ford saloon was also parked in the middle of the road.

One resident said: "I heard all the sirens and thought they were going to the home around the corner for people with dementia.

"I didn't take any notice until I looked out of the window and saw all the police cars."

Another said: "I heard the police and looked out and saw loads of them. I've been here 50 years and it's really gone down from how it used to be. It's happening all the time these days and it's what you expect."
