Cincinnati police say a dad fatally shot his 14-year-old son after mistaking him for an intruder.
The father dropped Georta Mack off at the bus stop on Tuesday but he later returned home. The shooting occurred around 6:30am, the Cincinnati Inquirer reports.
Police told first responders that he was startled by a noise in the basement and grabbed his firearm. When he was startled by the boy, he struck his son in the neck. He then immediately called 911.
The teen suffered a gunshot wound to the neck and later died at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.
Captain Terri Theetge told the paper that the department would interview the father and review the investigation with the Hamilton Prosecutor's Office.
