Dad drives from Manchester to Glasgow for Ashanti gig only for Viagogo not to send tickets

A dad was left desperately disappointed after driving from Manchester for a gig in Glasgow, only for the seller not to send the tickets.

As reported by our sister site, Manchester Evening News, David Richard Skelton travelled to our city to see Ashanti at the O2 Academy on February 8, after her Manchester show had sold out.

David paid £117 for tickets for him and his girlfriend through Viagogo, however, when he arrived at the Glasgow venue, he realised the online ticketing site hadn't sent the barcode which he needed to enter the O2 Academy, in spite of him receiving a confirmation email.

He told the MEN: "My girlfriend wanted to see Ashanti, she always has. But when she came to Manchester we couldn’t get tickets.

"So the next best thing was Glasgow, and we thought ‘we’ll make a weekend of it’."

"I was still contacting Viagogo for the tickets right up to 5.30pm on the night of the concert."

David initially claimed to MEN Viagogo had refused to refund him.

But, when asked for comment, Viagogo advised they have offered David a refund and 50% off a future purchase.

A Viagogo spokesperson said: “This case fell below high standards of customer service we normally provide.

"We've fully refunded the customer and have also given them a voucher in compensation."

David said: “The stress that I’ve had with this now is unbelievable. It was probably one of the worst weekends I've had in my life.

"People just need to be aware.”
