Dad dies suddenly on family holiday to Greece after collapsing and having seizures

A doting dad died on a last-minute trip to Greece after suddenly collapsing on his family holiday.

Ste Unett, 42, decided to take a break with his wife Dawn and 18-month-old daughter Isla last week at short notice.

But he suddenly collapsed and starting having seizures. He tragically died four days after being rushed to hospital, LancsLive report.

Now heartbroken Dawn, 35, is battling to get her husband's body returned from the island to their home in Leyland, Lancashire.

Dawn's friend and colleague Louise Coxhead is trying to raise money to help her friend.

"It's heartbreaking," she said.

"It really is, you don't think about this kind of thing when you're young, you don't think you're going to die on holiday.

"Dawn was so excited when I last talked to her, she was so looking forward to having some quality family time abroad.

"Now she has come home without her husband."

Ste was "a perfectly healthy man" before he suddenly collapsed on August 31 in Greece.

He was admitted to hospital where the local doctors believed he was suffering with heatstroke.

But his condition continued to deteriorate and he was due to be transferred to another hospital when he passed away on Tuesday, September 3.

Louise said the death has hit her friend hard.

She said: "Dawn's just exhausted.

"She's had to deal with the legal side of things with insurance and had to juggle hospital visits and Isla.

"She has to deal with an 18 month old girl who just wants to know where Daddy is."

Now Dawn faces the biggest battle of all, her travel insurance company, who have refused to pay out for some of Ste's medical bills and for him to be returned to Britain.

"She wants him home," Louise said.

"It's his 43rd birthday next week and she wants him home for that."

Louise and the rest of Dawn's work mates have started a GoFundMe page to raise money for Dawn.

They hope that the money raised will help them bring Ste back to his family.
