A message from his family posted to a public Facebook page, Bash Community Buzz, reads: “Bill is doing ok, he has a few minor burns, he’s comfortable in hospital and we should know better over the next few days.

“Thanks for everyone’s concern.”

People on the page were quick to wish Bill well in his recovery from the blast.

Owen Brown wrote: "Speedy recovery to Bill."

Nicola Campbell said: "Great news. Get well very soon Bill. Take care Mrs Mazs and family."

While Gillian Smith posted: "Young Bill hope you get well soon. Love to all the family."

Police Scotland has launched an enquiry into the explosion this morning.
