Dad collapses and dies on New Year's Eve while out on family walk

A beloved husband and father died on New Year's Eve after collapsing while out walking.

The man was out with his wife and son when he suddenly collapsed.

Immediately, his son performed CPR while emergency services were being called to the scene in the Lake District, Lancs Live reports.

Keswick Mountain Rescue Team (MRT), Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) and Cumbria Police were all in attendance with 20 team members involved in the incident.

At approximately 1.36pm, GNAAS landed close to the man and were followed shortly by Keswick MRT.

Sadly, the medical teams could not save the husband and father despite their best efforts.

The man died on New Year's Eve. He has not yet been identified publicly.

A spokesperson for Keswick Mountain Rescue Team said: "A husband, wife, and son were walking the ridge to Ullock Pike when the husband suddenly collapsed.

"CPR was immediately provided by the son and emergency services alerted.

"GNAAS helimed 58 landed close to the casualty and were followed shortly after by Keswick MRT.

"Sadly, despite the best efforts of the medical team the man could not be saved.

"Our thoughts and sympathies are with the man’s family and friends."
