Dad brought to tears after losing hard drive full of sentimental pictures in Glasgow Central Station

A desperate dad has been left close to tears after losing a bag containing a hard drive full of sentimental pictures in Glasgow Central Station - while he was returning someone else's lost phone.

Gerard Gough had just arranged to return a lost phone he found at Coatbridge Sunnyside to its owner when he realised he'd left his own bag beside a seat in the station around 5.25pm on Wednesday.

After realising he didn't have his bag when he got onto his train just a few metres away, he darted back but the bag containing his laptop and two hard drives had already disappeared.

Despite his frantic search of lost property offices in both Central Station and Queen Street Station, he's been unable to trace it. British Transport Police are hoping to be able to check CCTV to see if there are any sightings on the bag.

Gerard told Glasgow Live: "The bag contained two hard drives, a personal one with all my writings, music recordings, and most importantly family photos—those of my six-year-old daughter since birth. It was a White Toshiba one in a Green Case.

"This is what I'd like back most obviously as I'm heartbroken at the thought of losing my daughter's pictures. The other hard drive was a black Samsung one and contained all of my work for the charity I work for. I have that backed up on our Office 365 but would love to get that back too.

"My Macbook Air laptop was in the back with a Batman protective case in a green sleeve along with my red notebook too. Aside from that, was my stationery case, my laptop charger, a phone charger, a green chilis bottle, and my glasses in a blue Specsavers case.

"I'm not looking for anyone to be punished, I'm not that kind of person, but I just would really love to get my bag back, but especially my personal hard drive.

"My daughter is 100% the best thing in my life and the thought of having lost so many happy memories brings me to tears."

Gerard is urging anyone who comes across the bag to hand it into Glasgow Central Station's Lost Property office and has said he'll consider a reward for anyone who comes forward with the bag.
