Prosecutors will not seek the death penalty for a father who killed an entire family of neighbours after a teen allegedly exposed himself.
Majorjon Kaylor, 31, has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder and a felony burglary charge after allegedly shooting his neighbour's family in Idaho.
The incident occurred after a teenager in the neighbouring household supposedly exposed himself to Kaylor's wife and daughters.
Shoshone County prosecutors have announced that they will not seek the death penalty for Kaylor.
Kaylor shot and killed Kenneth Guardipee, 65; his daughter Kenna Guardipee, 41; and her sons 18-year-old Devin Smith and 16-year-old Aiken Smith, police said.
The violence erupted on Father's Day when Kaylor first shot and killed Kenna and her father on their back porch, along with the teenager involved, according to the police.
Kaylor claimed that he "snapped" due to concerns for his children's safety and a perceived lack of action from the Guardipee family.
According to an affidavit, Majorjon Kaylor expressed his concerns to law enforcement during an interview.
He stated that he was suspicious and concerned for his children because one of the victims, Devin Smith, had been acting suspiciously and had conducted acts of nudity in front of his children.
Kaylor referred to Smith as a paedophile and confronted the Guardipee family about his concerns regarding Smith's behaviour, but he felt they were not taking the situation seriously.
The affidavit further states that Kaylor admitted to "snapping," losing control, and taking action. At that point, he requested an attorney, and the interview concluded.
Kaylor is currently in custody and could face a sentence of life in prison without parole if convicted.
The charging documents allege the shootings of the two oldest victims were “premeditated and/or to execute vengeance.”
The other killings were allegedly “premeditated, to executive vengeance, and/or committed in the perpetration of burglary,” according to the charging documents.
Under Idaho law, it is considered burglary to enter a house, room or apartment with the intent to commit a felony such as murder.
A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to assist the Guardipee family with funeral expenses.
Grieving friends and relatives left balloons, flowers and photos outside of the family's home.
