In an unsettling update on the Celeste Rivas-D4vd case, social media shared a clip of the popular singer performing his hit “Romantic Homicide” on his current tour, seeming to change the lyrics referencing Rivas’ death while admitting he killed her.
At the same time, old Discord chat logs have resurfaced, showing D4vd inquiring about a user named “Celeste” and asking if she was online, as well as messages from Rivas communicating with the singer. Discord messages have also surfaced of D4vd communicating with kids on the platform, and often mentioning his love of “gore.”
What happened to Celeste Rivas?
Rivas, who was 15 when she died, was reported missing in April 2024 at the age of 13. Her body was discovered in a severely decomposed state inside a Tesla registered to D4vd that had been impounded in Hollywood.
The vehicle had been abandoned in the Hollywood Hills and was towed to the impound lot after a foul odor was reported. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed the body as Rivas, but the cause of death remains undetermined. However, investigators are treating her death as a homicide.
D4vd’s biggest hit, “Romantic Homicide,” was released in 2022 and features the haunting lyrics, “in the back of my mind, I killed you.”
But as true crime TikTok creator Matt Thibodeau noticed, at a recent D4vd concert after Rivas’ remains were found, he sang instead, “In the back of my mind, I killed her. In his post, Thibodeau provides audio evidence of the change.
Status of the Rivas investigation
On September 18, L.A. law enforcement sources confirmed that the residence, where D4vd had been staying, was searched overnight. During the search, detectives removed a computer and several other items for analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.
Meanwhile, D4vd has canceled the remainder of his U.S. tour. His record label, Universal Music Group, and associated companies have halted all promotional activities for his album, Withered. Collaborators such as Kali Uchis have distanced themselves, and brands like Crocs and Hollister have dropped him from campaigns. Despite these developments, D4vd is reportedly cooperating with authorities and has not been charged with any crime. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
