D.J. Reader makes a mini Bengals free-agency pitch to J.J. Watt

Cincinnati Bengals defensive lineman D.J. Reader was once a teammate of J.J. Watt and they remain close friends.

Reader, like anyone else, saw that the Houston Texans released Watt ahead of free agency. And like pretty much any Bengals fan, he seems to have one thing on the mind — nudging Watt toward signing with the Bengals.

Wednesday, Watt merely posted a message on Twitter that said “free agency is wild.”

Reader was right there with an eyebrow-raising reply: “Wild place but the jungle is also wild..”

To be clear, Watt is almost assuredly going to join a contender and ring chase while his career winds down. But Reader was training with Watt even after joining the Bengals and Watt was outspoken about how the loss of Reader would hurt the Texans.

Reader isn’t the only one to throw out a mini-recruiting pitch to Watt, though — Tyler Boyd recruited Watt too. And yes, the Bengals should at least consider it.
