D’Angelo Russell set to return to starting lineup vs. Timberwolves

When the Golden State Warriors visit the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night, they’ll likely have D’Angelo Russell back in the starting lineup.

After missing each of the team’s last three games, Russell was able to participate fully in practice on Thursday. So long as he makes it through pregame activities on Friday, he is expected to return to the starting lineup in time to help the Dubs score a win over Karl-Anthony Towns and his teammates.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr told reporters of Russell’s progress on Thursday.

In Russell’s absence, the Warriors went 1-2, scoring an upset win over the Portland Trail Blazers while dropping two decisions to the Charlotte Hornets and Houston Rockets. Rookie Ky Bowman started in his stead.

Bowman, currently playing on a two-way contract, averaged an impressive 14.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game as a starter. With Bowman likely returning to the bench, the repetitions he got as the lead guard for the club will help to bolster the team’s backcourt depth.

The Timberwolves will enter the contest with a 4-3 record, but are coming off back-to-back losses to the Milwaukee Bucks and Memphis Grizzlies.
