Czech Republic vs Wales betting tips: Don't expect goal feast in Prague World Cup qualifier

Our Czech Republic vs Wales betting tip is to delve into Grosvenor Sport's goal markets.

Wales' trip to the Czech Republic could prove pivotal in the race to finish second behind Belgium in Group E, especially for the Dragons, who have still to play Belgium once more, unlike the Czech Republic.

So, this is a game that Wales could really do with getting something from, although they will have to do it without their best player because Gareth Bale has been ruled out of both upcoming fixtures with a hamstring injury. The do, however, welcome back Aaron Ramsey who returns to the squad for the Prague trip.

Wales' shock 0-0 draw at home to Estonia means that there is now extra pressure on Rob Page's side to get at least a point on Friday but the Dragons will take confidence that they grabbed all three points from the reverse picture despite riding their luck at times.

That Estonia stalemate was the third 0-0 draw that Wales have been involved with in their last nine fixtures, only two of which they have won, and it is that lack of firepower that is proving their achilles heel right now. The absence of Bale won't help on that front because no other Wales player has found the net in Wales' last five matches.

All four previous meetings between these sides have been tight affairs, with none decided by more than a single goal. Marry that up with the fact that the hosts have only managed to score more than once in their last seven matches and a low-scoring game looks very much on the cards.

Czech Republic vs Wales betting tip

Goals are the problem for Wales and they won't find this Czech Republic rearguard easy to breach. Of Wales' last 25 fixtures, 19 have produced less than three goals, while 12 of their 20 since the start of 2020 have yielded no more than a single goal.

It is no surprise then, that under 2.5 goals is as short as 3/5 with Grosvenor Sport, while both teams to score (no) is equally restrictive at 16/25. It was tempting to go with the hosts to win to nil but, at 39/20, the best betting approach looks to be under 1.5 goals in what looks set to be an extremely cagey encounter.

Recommended bet: Under 1.5 goals - 39/20
