England got back to winning way at Euro 2020 as Raheem Sterling’s second goal of the tournament earned a 1-0 win over the Czechs at Wembley.
After a turbulent few days following the 0-0 draw with Scotland and having lost Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell to Covid isolation, Gareth Southgate got just what he was looking for as Raheem Sterling’s goal secured top spot in Group D.
Sterling, who also scored England’s winner here in the win over Croatia in their opening game, had already hit the post by the time he headed home from Jack Grealish’s cross with what proved the only goal of the game.
The Three Lions will be back at Wembley next Tuesday in the last-16, where they will face one of Germany, France, Hungary and Portugal.
