Czech Republic unveil alternative Scotland squad as coronavirus tests could see reserve team at Hampden

The Czech Republic have named a reserve squad that could face Scotland if coronavirus measures force their stars to miss out again.

A Nations League fixture in Olomouc last month became something of a farce after the entire squad returned to their clubs.

That meant Steve Clarke 's side faced what amounted to a scratch XI, with Roman Hubnik coming out of international retirement and many players winning a first cap.

The Czechs have had another three positive tests in their squad and have taken just 18 to Israel for Sunday's Nations League game.

And Scotland could face a reserve side again as a second side has been named to travel to Glasgow if necessary.

A statement said: "Professional players from the Czech top flight met at a hotel and remain in the Czech Republic, where they are preparing under the guidance of coach David Holoubek in case hygienic measures between individual states do not allow the team that returns from Israel on Monday to travel to Scotland for the next match.

"The Czech FA thanks all professional clubs for their cooperation in creating a backup squad for the Czech national team.

"It is still true that the priority is to send coach Silhavy's team to Scotland for Wednesday's match."
