Cyrus Christie issues Nottingham Forest message ahead of two crucial games

Cyrus Christie has urged Nottingham Forest to give themselves a platform to win two crucial games this week by scoring the first goal.

The Reds face his former club Coventry City at home on Wednesday before Wycombe Wanderers are the visitors on Saturday afternoon.

Forest will be favourites to win both matches, but with only six points from nine games this season that will be no easy task. On top of that, Chris Hughton's side have conceded first in 12 of the last 13 games.

Right-back Christie says the latter stat has to change in order for 21st placed Forest to start climbing the Championship table.

“When you’ve had the results we’ve had, it’s looking for that win," he told Nottinghamshire Live.

“We beat Blackburn, albeit in the last minute, and we’ve come from behind in games, so we’ve shown different sides to our game and shown character.

"Now we need to get in front and give ourselves a platform.

“If we can get in front, it doesn’t look like we’ll concede, because I believe we’ve been defensively sound. We’ve been strong in not letting the opposition create chances.

“It’s a matter of time, I believe.

“We have to be patient. We have to be strong and keep looking forward, not letting the set-backs get to us.

“We’ve got a new manager and he wants to implement his ideas.

“We’ve got a bit of time until Wednesday, so I’m sure we’ll work on that and try to put things right."
