Cyrus Christie assessing his options after Nottingham Forest loan spell

Cyrus Christie is assessing his options ahead of next season after returning to Fulham.

The Republic of Ireland defender spent the season just gone on loan at Nottingham Forest and made 44 appearances.

Christie is out of contract with Fulham but the Cottagers - relegated from the Premier League - have the option to extend for a further year.

Posting on Instagram, Christie said: “A season with ups and downs, not reaching the levels as a team on a consistent basis that we were capable of.

“It was an honour to play for a big club like Forest but disappointing not to experience playing in front of the fans who I personally believe we missed massively this season.

“They would have provided us with that extra spark and helped us push in certain moments.”

Christie previously spent three years with Forest’s derby rivals Derby County and added: “It was always going to be a tough and different situation joining this club for various reasons.

“But it was a challenge I fully embraced wearing the Garibaldi shirt with pride while changing a lot of people’s perspectives along the way.

“I’ve met some incredible people at this football club from players, to the club staff and wish everyone nothing but the best for the future.”

Fullback Christie, who has 28 senior caps, will be waiting to hear if he is in Stephen Kenny's Ireland squad to play Andorra and Hungary in away friendlies next month.
