Cyriel Dessers singled out in Russell Martin Rangers transfer admission

Russell Martin singled out Cyriel Dessers for recognition as he made a Rangers transfer admission following the 1-1 draw against Motherwell.

The Ibrox striker came off the bench in the second half of the match at Fir Park but received credit from his manager in the midst of an angry post-match interview.

Martin cited a "mentality problem" at Rangers as he demanded players drop their ego following the second-half collapse in Lanarkshire.

However, the Ibrox boss did have positive comments to make on Dessers as he credited the forward for his efforts, revealing he is the only player to have been subject to a transfer bid this summer.

Despite interest in the striker, Martin hailed his dedication and effort to compete for the club as he urged members of the dressing room to follow his example.

"I said to some of the guys in there, Cyriel is the only one we have actually had a bid for and interest in," Martin said on Sky Sports

"And he comes on and he runs so hard, on Wednesday night and today.

"Some of them need to have a look at him and set that example.

He continued: "There will be people left behind. If they don't want to come, they will be left behind because they need to understand what playing for this football club will take and what it means and not just when it is having a nice time.

"The European games speak for themselves; they find a way to get up for it. Hopefully, it is down to a bit of information as well, and then today the lethargy and all that stuff is not acceptable.

"I am surprised, but I am more angry than surprised."
