Cyriel Dessers details Leon Balogun Rangers talks as he opens up on 'long and stressful days'

Cyriel Dessers has revealed Leon Balogun's role in his move to Rangers.

The new Light Blues hitman has spoken of his relief at getting the deal done after some 'long and stressful' days as he becomes Michael Beale's sixth signing of the summer. He joins Kieran Dowell, Dujon Sterling, Jack Butland, Sam Lammers and Abdallah Sima in putting pen to paper with the Ibrox club as part of the summer overhaul.

The 28-year-old - who has signed a four-year deal - joins for an undisclosed fee from Cremonese as he gets set for the next chapter in his career. He revealed first interest in a move to Ibrox came around FOUR years ago so he is delighted to finally arrive at the club. He also detailed the role former Rangers star Balogun played in his move by giving him the lowdown on the club, Beale, the staff and all things Glasgow. That was the final assurance the hitman needed to take on this new challenge.

He told Rangers TV: "It's a big relief to finally be here. There's been some long and stressful days but a great feeling to be here finally. The first interest came already a long time ago, I think four years ago.

"It's always been in my head a little bit. To finally be here now it's really nice. I think the first talks were around May so nice to be here now.

"I spoke via my emails with Nigerian national team Leon Balogun about the club. He was he was very positive about it, about the club, the coach, the people around the staff, the city. So yeah, that for me was an affirmation to go through it."
