It follows operators seeing bookings to Greece reach the highest levels since last August earlier this week, after the country’s tourism minister Haris Theoharis announced he was in talks with the British Government about allowing travel from May for people who have had a vaccine or a negative Covid test.
However the date Cyprus has set to open its borders to Britons is still more than two weeks before the earliest people in England will be able to leave the country for holidays.
Meanwhile, Australia has hit back at the EU’s move to block a shipment of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine, suggesting the bloc was trying to “tear up the rule book”.
Italy has said it will block the export of about 250,000 vaccine doses from its Anagni plant near Rome, a decision that was later approved by the EU, after the British-Swedish pharmaceutical company failed to meet its contract commitments.
