A celebrity getting into politics? Well, it isn't completely unheard of.
"Sex and the City" star Cynthia Nixon, who played no-nonsense attorney Miranda on the hit HBO series, is eyeing a potential run for governor of New York, according to several reports.
"Many concerned New Yorkers have been encouraging Cynthia to run for office, and as she has said previously, she will continue to explore it," Nixon's publicist, Rebecca Capellan, said in a statement.
"If and when such a decision is made, Cynthia will be sure to make her plans public," Capellan said.
Nixon, 51, has been rumored to be throwing her hat into the political arena for months. She is said to be mobilizing a campaign by consulting with New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio's veteran campaign staffers, according to cable news channel New York 1. The actress has been increasingly active at political events and is an outspoken critic of President Trump.
If she does run, Nixon would be up against current Gov. Andrew Cuomo in September's Democratic primary. Pundits are calling her potential bid an example of the left's discontent with the embattled politician and a possible foil for his presidential run in 2020.
Hey, if "Sex and the City 3" doesn't make it off the ground, maybe a real-life "Sex and the Capital" spinoff could.
