'Cyclops' calf born with one eye and no nose is worshipped as 'miracle of God'

A newborn 'cyclops' calf is being hailed as a miracle from God by villagers who are flocking to worship it.

The deformed animal appears to have just one single eye in the middle of its head and no nose.

Footage shows the mother cow licking her newborn while locals flock to the the scene to worship the calf in the Ranaghat area of West Bengal, India.

Speaking in local Bengali, one villager can be heard saying: "Everything is fine until the neck, it is just the head that is bizarre."

Another woman says: "I have never heard or seen anything like this in my life."

The owner, who did not want to be identified, said: "The people from the neighbouring village have now flocked to our home and are asking us if they can worship it.

"We all think this is a miracle of God and we think this is Lord Brahma [creator god in Hinduism] who has taken birth in our home in the avatar of the cow."

Despite villagers awe of the mutant calf, vets have rubbished claims of a 'miracle', stating the abnormality is due to a biological birth defect called cyclopia.

Typically calves born with the rare congenital disorder only survive for a few weeks.
