Cyclists assaulted on Lockleaze path by 'group of boys'

Two cyclists were assaulted on a Bristol cycle path by a 'group of boys' yesterday afternoon (August 13).

The attacks took place between Lockleaze Road and Bonnington Walk at around 5.50pm.

A woman in her 30s was first pushed off her bike by a boy who then assaulted her.

The second cyclist, a man in his 30s, was then assaulted after he attempted to intervene.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Constabulary confirmed neither victim received significant injuries from the assaults.

Today (August 14), he told Bristol Live: "At 5.50pm yesterday we received a report a woman in her 30s had been pushed off her bike on the path between Lockleaze Road and Bonnington Walk by a boy who then assaulted her.

"A second cyclist, a man in his 30s, attempted to intervene but was then also assaulted by a number of boys.

"Neither cyclists sustained significant injuries.

"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing."

A boy, 11, was later found unconscious on the same cycle path in an incident which is being treated separately by police.
