Cyclist killed in Portobello accident involving lorry named as East Lothian local

A cyclist who died in an accident involving a lorry yesterday has been named as Heather Stronach from Musselburgh.

Paramedics battled to save the life of the 36-year-old woman, who is believed to originally be from New Zealand, but she succumbed to her injuries, according to the Daily Record.

Emergency services raced to the accident on Portobello High Street near the Kings Road Junction at around 2.45pm after Heather was hit by a large truck near a set of traffic lights.

Heather's husband, Martyn Stronach, said: "Heather loved to ride her bike. I am feeling pretty lost. I have lost my best friend and my soul mate."

Tributes have poured in online for the East Lothian local, who is believed to be married with no children.

"This is so very sad. Thoughts go out to her family who will be devastated." a friend wrote online.

"Such a tragedy. She was a lovely young woman with her whole life ahead of her", added another.

A third penned: "Tragic, tragic accident."

Sergeant Mark Banner, from Police Scotland's Road Policing Unit, said: "Our thoughts are with the deceased's family at this tragic time
