Cyclist was tackled off his bike and then 'kicked and punched' in attempted robbery

A cyclist was tackled off his bike before being attacked by three youths in an attempted robbery at Bramcote Hills Park, police have said.

The victim was riding along a path at around 5.15pm yesterday (Monday, January 17) when he was approached by three youths.

They then reportedly tackled him off his bike and then kicked and punched him, leaving the cyclist with a swollen lip and a nose bleed.

However, he managed to stop the attempted robbery by wrapping his legs around the bike.

Inspector Mike Ebbins, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a distressing incident for the victim and we are determined to trace the suspects responsible.

"To help us with our inquiries we’re appealing to anyone who may have been in the area around the time and who saw these youths immediately before or after the incident to please come forward.

“We treat all reports of robbery seriously and we have increased police patrols in the area to provide reassurance while we continue to progress with our investigation.”

Anyone who saw what happened or who has any other information which could assist with the investigation is urged to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident 577 of 17 January 2022.
