Cyclist tragically dies after crash with lorry in Dublin city

A cyclist has tragically died after a crash with a lorry in Dublin city this morning.

The heartbreaking incident happened at 8.30am on the South Circular Road at the junction of Bulfin Road.

The deceased's body remains at the scene, which is preserved for Garda forensic collision investigators.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred this morning, Friday 1st November 2019, at approximately 9:00am on the South Circular Road at the junction of Bulfin Road.

"The collision involved a lorry and a pedal cyclist. The male cyclist (age currently unknown) was fatally injured. His body remains at the scene at this time.

"The lorry driver was uninjured. The scene is currently preserved for the arrival of the Garda forensic collision investigators to carry out their examination.

"The road is currently closed to traffic and diversions are in place.

"Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information, particularly any motorists who may have been on the South Circular Road between 8.15am - 8.45am who may have dash cam footage to come forward.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Gardaí in Kevin Street on 01 6669400 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station."
